POSITION:  REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR

15 HOURS/WEEK – Non-benefitted

Overview:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director for Catholic Charities serve as our Catholic Charities Agency Refugee Employment Coordinator.  Interface with clients, employers, circle of care members and volunteers to provide for a rapid and successful entrance of our refugee clients into the US work force.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overall coordination of the Employment Program for adult refugee clients.

  • Fulfill 90-day R & P Grant and ORI program requirements

  • Attend weekly RCM staff meetings

  • Assist clients with cultural understanding of U.S. world of work and employer requirements and expectations.

  • Assist clients with creating basic resume, filling out job applications – including online, job search, and other pre-employment readiness activities.

  • Meet with each client and assist them in working together with local career center and participating in local job fairs.

  • Assist with interview prep. (including non-verbal).  Accompany clients to first, second, third interviews.  Arrange for interpretation if necessary.

  • Assist with employment transportation plan.

  • Follow up with clients to ensure proper job fit and placement.  Follow up with employer.

  • Build and maintain network of potential employers.   

  • Outreach and site visits to new and existing employer contacts

  • Assist employers with understanding of “refugee”

  • Communicate regularly with employers of existing clients to build and improve employer relationships

  • Gather employer testimonials and create and maintain employer brochure

  • Host employer appreciation event

  • Communicate regularly with ESOL teachers and tutors regarding employment situation for each client

  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to have volunteers assist with interview prep, vocabulary building (for specific positions), digital learning, etc.

  • Prioritize work load

  • Effectively communicate with clients, staff, and volunteers.

  • Interface with rest of staff and work supportively to preserve team-work environment.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities needed to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:

  • A.A Degree

  • Two years of job placement/employment development experience and/or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in a non-profit/social services organization is helpful.

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form, interpret written information, and communicate information to internal and external staff, volunteers, and clients.

  • Demonstrated success in meeting deadlines

  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Excel and Word

  • Accurate data entry skills and effective scheduling.

  • Ability to interact collaboratively within a team environment and work independently
